FAQ
Q1: What should I do if my scooter flashes 5 lights?
A1: Check to see if it is in “freewheel” mode. If so, turn the scooter off and move engaging lever to the lock position so it cannot be pushed. Turn the scooter back on and if it still flashes 5 lights, service the brake assembly.
Q2: Lights cycle back and forth?
A2: Turn off and back on. When lights start to cycle again – beep horn twice then turn off and on again.
Q3: The charger is getting hot.
A3: The circuit board is attached to side of charger causing the charger to get hot. It should never get hot enough to burn anyone, if so replace the charger immediately.
Q4: Can I wash my powerchair or scooter?
A4: Power wheelchairs and electric scooters can not get wet at all. Doing so could damage the product. Clean with a damp sponge or rag only.
Q5: Why do I need a serial number to place a parts order.
A5: To ensure the correct part is provided.
Q6: How often should I charge the batteries?
A6: Batteries should be charged daily.
Q7: How can I get spare parts for Merits products?
A7: To order parts for your Merits product, please contact the dealer the product was originally purchased from. If you are unable to locate the dealer, please contact us directly.
Q8: My powerchair or scooter is moving extremely slow. What can I do to make it go faster?
A8: Check the following: Is the speed turned up to the maximum position on the controller? Are the batteries fully charged?
The speed on your powerchair or scooter should be approximately 4 mph. We do not recommend speeds higher than that.
Q9: My Merits product just stopped working and I’ve tried several things to correct to no avail.
A9: Please contact the dealer you purchased the product from to have it evaluated or serviced. If the dealer can’t help you, please contact us directly.
